Staff
We would like to welcome Rebecca Lockwood-Taylor to the staff team. Rebecca will work in
The Hive on a Monday and Wednesday.
Dragon Boat Race
On Sunday 25th September
a team from Avon-North Mencap took part in a Dragon Boat Race at Bristol harbourside to raise money for the Society.
19 teams took part and we were very pleased to be placed 9th. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the team. It
was a lovely day (despite the rain!) and everyone had a great time. We hope to raise £3000 from the event.
Annual General Meeting
We held our AGM on Monday 14th March at The Hive. Thanks
to everyone who attended. Sadly we said goodbye to Jim Mansfield who retired from the management committee after 40 years
and over 20 years as our Appeals Officer. He was presented with an engraved pen and Samantha Morris, Mencap Head
of Volunteering, awarded him a certificate of thanks and a letter from Mark Goldring, Mencap Chief Executive.
We
would like to thank Jim for all his hard work over the years and for all the money that he has raised. Thanks also to his
wife, Dolores, who has supported us over the years.
DHL
We are very excited
that DHL at Emersons Green have chosen Avon-North Mencap as one of their 4 charities of the year. They will be fundraising
for us all year and helping us to make improvemenst to The Hive. It is wonderful to have their support.
Each quarter we produce a newsletter for our members and other interested
people.
